Corrected Proclamation Confirming National Angel Family Day as Ceremonial and Within Article II
Honor victims killed in crimes connected to unlawful immigration and victims of fentanyl, support their families, and affirm a commitment to border security and law enforcement.
Bipartisan rationale: VFA assesses this corrected proclamation would give each side a concrete gain over unilateral enforcement language. For Republicans and conservatives, it preserves a national day to honor victims of crimes linked to unlawful entry and victims of fentanyl, and it keeps public commitment to border security and support for law enforcement. For Democrats and progressives, it makes the proclamation ceremonial only with no new detention, removal, penalty, or spending, and it confirms full protection for free speech, due process, and equal treatment under the First Amendment, Fifth Amendment Due Process, and Fourteenth Amendment, Section 1.
