Revised Proclamation: National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, 2026

Physical fitness and participation in sports are essential to the health and well-being of the American people. Regular exercise reduces chronic diseases, boosts mental health, and strengthens communities. Sports foster teamwork, discipline, and resilience, benefiting youth development and lifelong habits. Recognizing these values advances public welfare. By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, particularly Article II, Section 3, to recommend to the people measures necessary for public good, I hereby proclaim May 2026 as National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. I call upon the people of the United States, schools, fitness organizations, and sports leagues to observe this month with events, programs, and activities promoting physical activity.
