National Purple Heart Day Proclamation, 2026
To designate August 7, 2026, as National Purple Heart Day, honoring the sacrifice of military personnel wounded or killed in action and encouraging public recognition of their service.
Bipartisan rationale: Both parties support honoring military sacrifice. This proclamation is purely ceremonial, avoids any substantive policy or funding, and respects the separation of powers by not encroaching on Congress's authority to create legal holidays or obligations. It is a traditional, non-controversial use of executive power.
